Global Energy Transfer Feed-in Tariff (GET FiT)
To create GET FiT, MCG identified and evaluated barriers to renewable energy deployment in developing countries through over 160 interviews with international financiers and project developers active in target markets.
These insights led to the development of a risk management and mitigation framework that could enable cost-effective and rapid scale-up of renewable electricity. GET FiT was created in response to a request from the UN Secretary General’s Advisory Group on Energy and Climate Change (AGECC) and was formally launched at the AGECC’s April, 2010 meeting in New York City.
GET FiT contributes several innovations to the dialogue about international climate finance in the wake of the Copenhagen climate change conference (COP-15).
