Central Macedonia: Southern European Region of the Future

Central Macedonia was named “2006-2007 Southern European Region of the Future” by Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) magazine, a publication of the Financial Times Group.

The award ceremony took place at a special event in Cannes. The competition aims at promoting European cities and regions with high investment potential. 28 criteria were used, classified in seven major categories with such diverse factors as economy dynamics, HR, strategy to promote FDI, telecommunication and transportation infrastructure, access to new technologies and quality of life for foreign executives.

The award to Central Macedonia demonstrates that due to its geographical location, with direct access to the Balkan and Black Sea countries, the region’s potential is huge both for the Greek economy and the international investing community.
